From 2012 I have had these issues.
I am lucky to still be alive.
At one stage I hoped I would stay alive long enough just to watch 2016 rugby world cup.
I started to get bad arrhythmias around 2010.
I had a pacemaker defibrillator implanted.
I had a stroke 2012, but was fortunate as Becci was next to me.
I was saved the massive problems she has had to endure because she was not found for 5 hrs. I was in hospital at the time having my defibrillator changed.
Normally I would be right by her side.
One cannot get worse luck.
I have had;
Stents installed,
Pulmonary embolism. 30% die from this. Becci was the one who urged me to go to hospital.
Had I blown off the pain and stayed in bed and waited, I would be dead.
Hypothyroidism
Ulcerative colitis that failed to stay in remission requiring removal of part of colon and an ileostomy.
I was 24 hrs away from dying from sepsis as the colon had turned to mush.
I have had 3 ablations to the heart. Each taking about 5 hrs.
My defibrillator has gone off many times.
Each time going to hospital and staying overnight to find out why.
Not long after defibrillator was implanted I was still coaching rugby.
I didn’t believe I was that ill.
I went into ventricular fibrillation during a coaching session.
I was shocked 39 times before ambulance found me on a field at UH and managed to pump drugs into me and have the hospital paddles finally get me out of VF.
I thought I was a goner for sure that day.
I have made it so far but heart is weak.
At one stage the ejection fraction was down to 20% which in some states I am told will put you on the transplant list.
It has been a miserable 7-8 years.
I would not be alive today had it not been for Becci.
So when Becci tells me she does not want to go into a home I will do everything I can to respect her wishes.
I also believe she is right.
