After some 11 weeks homeless we have only now managed to get in front of the Greek Orthodox church to protest and attempt to shame John Zavitsanos.
There have been so many setbacks with transportation and Beccis health that Sunday June 9 2019 was the first day parishioners could see us as they walked into the church for service.
We were approximately 50 yards from the entrance.
We could not be missed with our banners and signs.
It was a rather surreal time.
About six or seven people came to our van and took photographs of all the signs and banners.
Not one said “Good Morning” or tried to engage in conversation and maybe ask why we were there and if there was anything they could do to help.
I always expect Christians to be better than the rest of us.
Sadly they are often worse. I think they are content to know that by simply acknowledging Christ they are assured a passage to a place near Him.
I also believe many use a church as a social networking opportunity.
In fact one of my buddies who is pretty hip on all religions says the Greek Orthodox Church is a social club.
I have no opinions one way or the other on religion.
I prefer to judge people on their actions not on the places they frequent.
I was born and brought up in England.
We were forced to attend chapel every Sunday after a military parade.
I played clarinet in the band. When the parade was over I tried to avoid chapel by hiding in one of the dormitories.
I called myself Methodist not knowing what one was, just to escape the regular service for Church of England.
I like to think I do not need a book to teach me right from wrong.
Churches here in US have police on duty.
I noticed the police were constantly being engaged by parishioners.
I can only imagine they were trying to get the cops to get rid of us.
