Becci Had A Bad Stroke

Becci had a bad stroke Dec 19 2017. For 5 months she was bedridden whilst the docs sorted out so many problems.

As well as a stroke she had a pulmonary embolism, blood clots in both legs (filter implanted), collapsed lung, feeding tube to stomach for 5 months, benign tumor on face, heart failure with 20% ejection fraction which in some states will get you on the heart transplant list, and complete paralysis on left side.

Her weight plummeted to 80lbs and her muscles wasted away.

Despite losing the right side of her brain, her mind remained sharp. Doctors said they had seen this type of damage and all remain bedridden and 100% max assist.

Through grit and determination she is on the mend.

Her last health issue other than the effect of stroke was addressed this week with a nuclear stress test.

She is eating well. Her weight is now 115lbs. She can stand up on her own for 5 mins with a brace.  And even walk a few steps back and forwards by holding on to bars. She is still in tremendous pain each day as the muscles continue to grow and the nerves create new pathways.

The left arm will take much longer.

To get to this stage we have employed unusual tactics and visited some cutting edge docs and therapists. Some of the ‘tortures’ have been light electrical stimulation, massage pads (cycloid vibration), special sounds from metronome software direct through ear bone, chi machine, and good occupational and physical therapy.

Oh and a special fitness coach. Heads up for Maya. www.mayarivers.com

It has been a very long road and there has been much pain and suffering. Along the way she has had 2 seizures and sundry small infections. Depression is a major issue. How would you feel if you were trapped inside a body that would not work. You too would wonder if you could ever live a normal life.
